About
Betty Ann Chandler holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in school libraries, an Early Childhood Development Supervisor Certificate, a Child Intervention Services Child Abuse Protocols Certificate, and has a current vulnerable sector police check. She has taught in a preschool classroom for 19 years, the last 17 being at Foothills Lutheran Christian Preschool. At the last preschool inspection, the licensing officer noted, "[Betty Ann Chandler] has an impressive knowledge and experience history with regard to child care ... well versed in children's developmental needs ... supports learning through play in a nurturing, supportive environment." Mrs. Chandler has taken advantage of multiple professional development opportunities during her teaching career including training in Animated Literacy, Reggio, and Handwriting Without Tears.
While preschools were closed because of the pandemic, Mrs. Chandler supplied activity ideas by email for parents self-isolating with their children, conducted two porch visits, and taught her students individually and interactively on Skype. This proved to be quite popular, with the number of appointments and the student list expanding from May to June. The preschool year closed with a graduation parade. In July, Mrs. Chandler posted 10 lessons on a private YouTube channel for preschool and kindergarten students and put together craft bags for parents to pick up to use with those lessons as part of a virtual summer Bible camp for ages 3 - 10.
Mrs. Chandler is married and has 2 adult children who both love books as much as she does. She enjoys baking, cooking, reading, singing, and playing fetch with her cat. She believes learning can be fun.
